The Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo is a treasure of the Dominican Republic, offering a captivating glimpse into the country’s rich history and colonial heritage. One of the must-visit landmarks in the Colonial Zone is the Parque Colón, a picturesque plaza that is surrounded by some of the city’s most significant colonial-era buildings. Here, you can admire the impressive Baroque facade of the cathedral, as well as the ornate Alcázar de Colón, the former palace of Diego Columbus, the son of the famous explorer.
